Welcome to Ahmad Muhammad’s Midwest Food Bank Blog

Why We Volunteer
Volunteering is important it is not only a great way to give back to the community, but it is also an opportunity to search for future jobs and internships. Volunteer work also helps bring perspective to what the average worker goes through on a daily of working that job. Volunteering also helps teach us different skills that we never experienced or learned before.
What Midwest Believe In
The main beliefs of the Midwest food bank is that hunger and food insecurity are significant problems facing our country and communities. We are a food charity with a desire to demonstrate God’s love by providing help to those in need. Midwest Food Bank’s values are built on the Biblical base of the ‘fruit of the spirit’ – Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-control. Our values give us a road map to “Sharing the Blessings.”
Nonprofit Volunteer Benefits
Nonprofit foundations such as the Midwest food bank goal is to help others who have been affected by natural disasters and other food famines and others in need. The major purpose for participants is to collect, sort, pack, and distribute food and disaster relief donations, and remind us every day that our mission could not be achieved without them.

What I’ve Learned
There were so many things to learn from during this experience at Midwest Food Bank there were certain ways things had to be packed and moved and distributed. Through volunteering I realized how much hard work their workers put in to reach the end goal. I also realized that no matter what age or background you come from it is always something for you to help with. I was intrigued to see how many elders were really putting the work in when it came to some of the manual labor it took to move things from one place to another. I also had the benefit to not only help, but they also served amazing lunch after we were done working as a reward for our hard work. The people who work here are very polite and are willing to help whenever you have a problem. During my break time they also had a basketball court where you can enjoy yourself for the time being.
